Farewell Message from the Administrator

Dear Parents, teachers and students of SMKBUD4,Last Saturday, the Pengetua Puan Hjh.

Zabedah Bt Hj. Abbas met with over 50 parents to resolve pending issues with the school. Questions raised by the parents were either answered by the Pengetua, teachers or the PIBG representative.Matters concerning the well being of the students were raised and suggestions were taken to resolve these issues.

There were few incidents of frustration when the answers provided were not satisfactory (there were some occasional “boos” and “ahhhhh”) but in the end both parties (parents and Pengetua) came to an understanding what needs to be done for the betterment of the students and the school.

Puan Karamjit gracefully came forward and explained her behavior on the 19th July. She was a gem when she apologized to the parents on the incident whereby she acted in the interested of the students.

The correct procedure in getting the approval to spend the PIBG funds was highlighted in details by a parent (with reference to the PIBG constitution) and the remarks made were well noted by both PIBG representatives as well as the school.

With this, I will remove all remarks made on this blog by the 16th August unless there are further issues that need to be resolved.Thank you all for your postings and remarks and most important of all, your continuous efforts in ensuring that SMKBUD4 the best school in P.J.

With this, I hope that the school will now focus on the most important matter of all and that is the betterment of the students in the school. And also to once again raise the reputation of the school to be among the best in Selangor.

A big thank you to the Pengetua, teachers and representative of the PIBG as well as the 50 over parents that attended and making this meeting possible.

Best Wishes

Just before you bid farewell, would you say that the last saturday's meeting settles all outstanding queries and doubts and shouldn't the new committee take on the responsibility of pursuing an EGM - afterall it was pointed out very clearly the past committee and the puan pengetua being the advisor have gone out of line. Afterall the pibg constitution guidelines were set up so that things are carried out in the right and proper manner.
Is it right to say that they should be held accountable for this fiasco?
Kindly share your perspective on this. Can we allow this to end so abruptly without a proper conclusion?

Dear Observer,

The facts as follows. The previous PIBG committee (2007) DID NOT have the required quantum (as stated in the constitution) to approvel the budget to be spend. It requires 2/3 of the committee while it only 3 parents attended and approved the spending. Should the "adminstrator" continue to report this or should the parents take it up with the Pengetua and the present PIBG.

We still need the blog. There is still no closure yet.

thanks for the info provided in your earlier pages. controversy or facts they may be, they brought me and my hubby's attn and interest to our child's well being in the school that i attended both PIBG last sat and previous sat, voiced out our concerns during both meetings and saw some points taken to be actioned by the school's administrators and PIBG in future. may i suggest that after the final closure of your page, we put up to PIGB that the school's website to be used in future for quick updates on action points post PIBG instead (here we may the PIBG members to help us) as we still need a channel of updates and communication - in a constructive and timely manner that will benefit our child's future in this school, and thanks to your courage and commitment all this while, i saw some light coming at end of tunnel, but i feel that all concerned parents have to continue standing up and speaking up as changes or improvement may take awhile, but if we're persistent, they may hear us.

Dear All,
we should avoid looking for scapegoats to take the blame for all the fiasco that has happened.
It was clarified that the pengetua, as advisor to the PIBG,suggested to the PIBG to have a certain amount of funds to be spent for the beautification projects. The PIBG had the option to ACCEPT or DECLINE the suggestion. The PIBG accepeted the suggestion also approved the funding.
As pointed out by a parent, the PIBG had no quarum to conduct the meeting and as such the approval of the funds was actually in violation of the constitiution.
In view of the above,it should be the 2007 PIBG taking the responsinility and definately NOT the pengetua.
I am not defending the pengetua,i am just stating the facts as POINTED OUT BY A PARENTS who attended the meeting(i think it was a Mrs. William) AND I BELIEVE SHE PUT THE ENTIRE PIBG COMMITTEE MEMBER TO SHAME FOR NOT UNDERSTANDING THE PIBG CONSTITIUTION...Bravo Mrs. William we need more people like you.!!!!!

Thank you for creating this blog. It has been a tremendous help to a majority of us. Keeping us aware of the ongoings in school.

I was among those who attended the meeting on 9th August.

Thanks also to one very outstanding parent who brought up the issue on PTA constitution.
You received unanimous support from the audience.
All PTAs need a constitution
It is a governing document which establishes the fundamental rules by which the PTA is governed. Leadership in the present PTA is absent. A revamp is a must here.

It is clear from the talking, the head of school has failed to observe accountability and transparency. How does transparency prevail when PTA stakeholders do not know the amount of money on the school's account? The meeting which is meant to be constituted of 17 members, had only 4 people. The principal should be brought to book.

Much has been debated, agreed but trouble is far from over. Now, if an orderly atmosphere is a prerequisite for learning, then the management needs change.

To the present AJKs PIBG 2008 : since you cannot get the past AJKs PIBG 2007, there is the Pengetua sitting right in front of you who also acts as the Penasihat who is equally responsible! insofar as the exhorbitant spending is concerned.

I may still excuse the past AJKs PIBG 2007 if they were not given the constitution and did not know what the hell that was but the Pengetua???? Having been a Pengetua for some time, surely she must know the constitution well and by not highlighting the insufficient quorum is already bad enough and spending a crazy amount of money without approval is the worst thing! So, AJKs PIBG 2008, what are you going to do?

She can be asking for the sky, it all depends whether we allow it...you said...but look....she got the sky without even you knowing it!

Too bad...for a bad advisor!

Who says the Pengetua is not at fault?!.....think.....the whole fiasco started from her so called "ill-thought" proposal....one that would probably be in her own interest...

She has this notion all along and this was said by her.."memang ramai yang kaya-kaya di sekolah ini"....what does this go to show?

So parents....please do some thinking!

I was one of the parents that attended the recent meeting. Here are my 2 sens worth.
I agree that the pengetua has her faults and as pointed out by one of the PIBG member, the blame is on all of us,parents, pibg as well as the teachers and pengetua. If we seek to improve then all of us must be able to communicate with intention to improve.
there should be follow up action
with regards the list of griviences that was tabled at the meeting. Convene meetings, via the PIBG , with the school administration to check if action have been taken to overcome all the shortcomings.
Rememeber, when the school got started a few years back with less than 200 students, if 10% were caught smoking that means only 20 students which translates loosely to an average of 1.6 cases per month. Now with 1200 students,if 10%were caught, that means 120 studenst or an average of 10 students per month, sounds scary but in terms of percentages no change.
and just like before when police were call to settle some fighting cases,we now have more of such cases due to increase in student population.
parents need to do their part in checking on the whereabouts of their children,as once they are out of school it is beyond the resposibilty of the teachers, its the parents responsibilities.

Parents are also to check if their children are smoking,if parents don't care, how are teahers to overcome such a problem. And smoking have been a problem for donkeys years, its not a new phenomenon.

with regards to the funds used for beautification, we are beating a dead dog over and over again. But lets analyse the actual problem.
The pengetau as advisor request for funds from PIBG for the beautification project. She is new, hardly a year but that does not absolve her as ignorance is not an excuse. The president and deputy president of the PIBG have been in the same post for 7 years and should be very well versed with the PIBG constitiution as well as the priorities of the parents.
afterall, both the president and deputy president were elected even though they were not presence.
The pibg president convened a meeting without the required quarom(as pointed out by a lady at the meeting)and approved the funds for the beautification.
Now as pointed out in your posting at the very front, who is allowed to sign cheques??

So if anyone should be accountable for the misused of PIBG funds it should be the PIBG!!

So parents that passed petions requesting the transfer of the pengetua , will you also please intiate a petition against the PIBG, bendahari, pengerusi and setiausaha for misused of PIBG funds!!!!
call for the continuation of the last AGM!!! we want the president of the PIBG to explain where he got the authority to approve such expenditure.
also at the 2007 agm, he promised funds coming in from the rental of the billboard.
how much funds coming in?
is there an agreement between the billboard company and the PIBG?
is the agreement approved in any pibg meeting? can we have a copy of the minutes indicating it was discussed in the pibg meeting and with the proper quorum??
can the pibg enter into such an agreement which involves the school which is under the purview of the ministry of education??
where are the monies due from the billboard company for the previous years??
the president have been aroud for7 years,so he should shed some light on this issue.
