Denggi Fever in School

It is no surprising that several students have been hospitalized due to Denggi fever. The flooded school field and the clogged drainage pipe are creating a sanctuary for mosquito to breed. By the way Pn Pengetua, in case you have forgotten your Biology.

Under optimal conditions, the egg of an Aedes mosquito can hatch into a larva in less than a day.
The larva then takes about four days to develop in a pupa, from which an adult mosquito will emerge after two days.
Three days after the mosquito has bitten a person and taken in blood, it will lay eggs, and the cycle begins again.
Only the female aedes mosquito bites as it needs the protein in blood to develop its eggs.
The mosquito becomes infective approximately 7 days after it has bitten a person carrying the virus.
This is the extrinsic incubation period, during which time the virus replicates in the mosquito and reaches the salivary glands.
Peak biting is at dawn and dusk.
The average lifespan of an Aedes mosquito in Nature is 2 weeks
The mosquito can lay eggs about 3 times in its lifetime, and about 100 eggs are produced each time.
The eggs can lie dormant in dry conditions for up to about 9 months, after which they can hatch if exposed to favourable conditions, i.e. water and food

Why cant the Pengetua allocate some funds to repair these and to prevent the spread of denggi fever? Oh I forgot, the funds have been allocated to the beautification of the school.

As one of the P.I.B.G representative replied “sometimes in order to get our children to study better, it is good to have a beautiful surrounding / garden so that he can concentrate better” (this was his reply when asked about the rational of the funds spend). I have to admit that he is even better that our Malaysian Feng Shui master Lillian Too. Actually what he was implying was that we need to change our garden environment so that the Feng Shui changes and whatever our children studied will come out in the examination question. Way to go ………………………You are the MAN!!!!!!

Change fengshui? Sorry to say but that is such an ignorant statement. A school is a place to study. Yes, i agree that keeping our school in a clean and beautiful enviroment is something good. However, the pengetua has other intentions beautifying the school. $$? Besides, who uses almost all the school funds for beautifying purposes? Clearly she has pocketed the money. Back to the original topic, fengshui? Please lah, stop talking bull.

DENGGI MOSQUITOES BREEDING IN SMKBUD4 FIELD & FOUNTAIN! WHAT A SHAME! I've heard that one of the victim's parent had gone to see the Pengetua and requested that she should do something, like arranging for fogging the whole school before the start of the new semester on 9th June'08. Unfortunatley the Pengetua has DONE NOTHING. But luckily a PIBG representative took the trouble to arrange for fogging etc. MANY THANKS to his kind PIGB representative as fogging had been carried out accordingly.

Fogging alone is not going to solve this breeding mosquitoes menace & hence DENGGI. It's just a temporarily measure. How many times a week can MBPJ arrange fogging? We all know that the field which is not only a so called multi purpose field, 'self-made swimming pool' but also a paradise haven for breeding mosquitoes. Therefore as a Pengetua & the chosen administrator of the school, YOU should do something about the field. Get the experts to clear the clogged water in the field and repair it etc. For heaven's sake please Pengetua do something and before more students will be down with denggi fever! Already more than 5 students were down with denggi fever. How many more students do you want to see down with denggi??? For heaven's sake don't just beautify the school's garden which I believe is your vision and not the school's! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. You have spent far too much money in beautifying the garden. Result is the garden looks more like a jungle. It's more like a little jungle in a kampung than a garden in a school!!! It's too overcrowded with potted plants and too many shrubs. Unfortunately it's not properly planned at all. So once and for all please take some of your previous time and see to the school field problems so the students of SMKBUD4 can have back their original field.

Well looks like the school is in need of fogging constantly. The certain Pibg committee member should be commented for his efforts in helping the school to get rid of the mosi but you know what they will keep coming back! Today my son came home from school and complained that he was bitten by many mosquitoes at school!
Even his face has mosquitoe bite marks.Someone needs to check on the school field area where it is often water-logged or perhaps the 'fountain of hatred' installed by the pengetua for mosquito larvae. The school or rather the pengetua should learn her lesson - the school was fined Rm1,000/- for breeding mosquito!! Lets hope there will not be any more dengue cases.
