The MAJLIS SUAIKENAL PIBG

The above was broken up into 4 session i.e.

5th July 2008 Form 5
19th July 2008 Form 4
2nd August 2008 Form 3
10th August 2008 Form 1 and Form 2

The 1st session was completed on the 5th July and it took awhile to get some info on the outcome of the meeting as the attendance was extremely poor. A lot of SMS and personal calls were necessary and only this morning I got the outcome.

  • It was attended by selected representative of the AJK PIBG together with teachers that are teaching Form 5. The Pengetua was there (surprise!!!)
  • There were a total of nine Form 5 classes and my estimation of the student population would be in the region of 270 to 315. The parents who attended this Majlis Suaikenal were ONLY 8 which represented a miserable less than 3% of the student population. Now we know why the Pengetua attended. What can 8 parents do as compared to the AGM attendance ?
  • The meeting was focus to ONLY 3 subjects i.e. Education, Discipline and Welfare and maybe that is why only a selected PIBG representative was there. Other matters were NOT entertained – due to time constrain.
  • From my source it seems that the Pengetua hardly spoke and the person who spoke the most was a lady PIBG representative (sorry I didn’t get her name - a sweet malay lady). She was the mediator and was leading the whole discussion.
  • Key question asked was about students smoking and it was replied that the school can only advised the students who are seen smoking outside the school compound as no disciplinary actions can be taken. Disciplinary action can only be taken if they are caught smoking in the school compound. Does that mean that a student can take a cigarette break by waking out of the school compound, have a smoke and come back for classes? Later the teacher can advised him to cut down smoking as it’s unhealthy. To students who are reading this - this statement is meant to be sarcasm and not a suggestion.
  • Another important question raised was why the Form 5 class “tambahan” has not been implemented as it already July. The class tambahan was crucial in preparing the students for the SPM examination which is getting nearer and nearer. During this discussion, the responsibility of this matter was push to a teacher to answer. Now to be honest, who is the head of the school? The Pengetua or the teacher in charge of class “tambahan”? Is it fair for the teacher in charge of class "tambahan" to answer the questions raised when it is the responsibility of the Pengetua to ensure that the classes are in place to prepare the students for the SPM. The Pengetua may have the idea that most of the students in SMKBUD4 can afford tuition so there is no need for class tambahan. What about those who cant afford tuition. Where is the priority - school beautification or education?
  • The meeting was in a rush manner and the parents questions were quickly summarised up. The following were also discussed briefly.
  • students volunteering to paint the classroom - is it affecting their studies.
  • Parents were unable to get a clear understanding from the form teachers on the performance of their children especially when its related to subjects not taught by the form teachers.
  • Teachers need to explain and maybe repeat several times especially teaching weaker students.

So where do we go from here – to be continue - MAJLIS SUAIKENAL PIBG 2?

This 'Suaikenal' exercise is just an 'eye wash' trying to look and act responsible and caring but let's be honest - done in such slip shot manner and constrained with no concrete plan to tackle the current issues especially the issue with discipline. Parents have to be aware that the school's disciplinary problems are on the rise. The recent incident where a chinese boy student was assaulted by a gang of malay boys (students) over a minor misunderstaning in front of some teachers clearly shows the incompetence and lackadaisical attitude of the school. Problems like gangsterism, drugs, smoking and even sex have risen in this school and what is the PIBG stand on this? Let's hope their plan is not another fund raising to fill back the 'kitty' which has been badly depleted by the pengetua and of course backed by the pibg committee in their extravagant spending!
A successful school needs good and experienced teachers to form a good teamwork with the students to achieve results. Therefore with this in mind the pengetua should value the people around her and not go on a 'witch hunt' to find faults and scapegoats for her incompetence. As the saying goes Truth always Prevail no matter what.

As the Malay saying goes, "melepaskan batuk di bawah tangga" only. All form but no substance. Not a hands-on pengetua. Forever disappearing with PA in tow.
Morale has sunk so low that many are thinking of getting OUT! It's become a sick school, the atmosphere is totally unhealthy.
Discipline slides further. Hardly see PK HEM around.Kursus? Or could be another private den. Follow the leader!

BLITZERZ lost!! WE lost!! Very disappointed. But next year hope to recruit more people and win back our best supporters title and the competition!

Teachers were not allowed to promote Cheerleaders as dictated by the Pengetua. On these 2 days, I noticed that the number of teachers attending from our school is low. Safety on that day has been compromised as many students decided to take the LRT to Bukit Jalil. Why didnt the school provide the necessary buses. The Pengetua once commented the importance of discipline and that why she change to Hari Bakat. Doesnt providing a bus is a way to ensure discipline. I am really scared here and now I can give a conclusion that the Pengetua has no brains as once again she has demonstrated her stupidity in this matter with no priority on safety. On the 3K, she has already lost it on "KESELAMATAN".

So sorry to hear the Blitzers didnt do too well this year - not even winning the best supporters category - no thanks to all the hindrances brought about by an uncaring and unsupportive pengetua who definitedly lack the farsightedness and competence.
The school is sliding into a abyss day by day with this incompetent woman at the helm.
Blitzers do not give up - train harder and get yourselves a new coach. A new work routine and creative choreography is very much needed to bring you guys to a higher level. Don't forget you have your supporters out there so keep up the great job.

hey guys. we are sorry to disappoint you all but seriously, we have improved so much compared to the previous year. if we are not mistaken, we got number 6th. its not easy to win top 3. try putting yourself in our shoes. just for once.

to the supporters, i think you guys could have done a better job. you guys are really quiet compared to the previous years. no hard feelings k =)

btw, unlike other schools, our principle didn't show any support. we did everything all by ourselves.

and our coach is awesome. without her, we wouldn't have gone this far and good. thanks for everyone's lovely regards tho =)

Blitzerz did and gave their very best. No one can say they did not.

On the supporters side.. BLAME the pengetua. She is very two-faced. A bitch most of the time but puts on great amount of pretense when there is a VIP nearby. Example 1, today in assembly.

She does not support cheerleading. The PIBG sponsors at least RM100 or more every year for the cheerleaders. Did they do so this year?

Dear all,

The school this year, like previous years did offer packages in arranging transport for the students.

This year, they had 6 buses to ferry the students to Bukit Jalil.

It wasn't the school's fault that some students went there by LRT as it was their own decision.

I have to also clarify that Blitzerz, the team and supporters did not lose.

If i'm not mistaken, the team were placed no. 6 out of 43 teams. A great achievement from last year where they were not even at the top 15.

As for the supporters, everyone did their part, we were there for both days. Unfortunately, Xavier had more supporters that day and they only judged on Sunday. We still had as many supporters like every year. Also, very little attention was given to Blitzerz's supporters by the host on Sunday.

Again, let me stress that the team and the supporters did their very best, so we shall not blame them at all.

Things could've been better if some party would come and show their support but unfortunately they were no where to be seen.

I hope everyone would get the right information before commenting as it wouldn't be fair for anyone.

Thank you.

Dear Justin,

Thank you for the comments. For the record, this year cheer was not promoted as before. Going to the venue through LRT may the students choice but then again, did the teachers ever mentioned to the students to take the bus that can be organised by the school. Instead it was promoted by Trixxon which is a student body. The student body has more common sense that the useless Pengetua. If the teachers had promoted it there would be more than 6 buses. You were a Prefect before so which is the safer choice, to allow a dozen students to travel there using public transport or provide a bus whereby there is constant supervision by a teacher or 2. What happen if an accident had occured on the way there via public transport? Who will be responsible. Please check your facts as you are NO longer a student here whereas we are.

Too little supporters? Blame trixxon for having such a lousy CEO!

Cheng Yao is a nice guy, It's the pengetua's fault!!!

Dear true patriot,

It is indeed true that teachers did not promote the package, but like every year, it has been the same.

Secondly, it is not that Trixxon members have more common sense or not, that is not the issue at all. Are you aware that this project was approved by the admin of the school to allow Trixxon members to handle it.

Trixxon is an young entrepreneur club, by ExxonMobil. In a way they are a profitable company, so it was their responsibility to sell as many packages as possible to the students.

Another reason for the students to not take the packages and follow the bus is due to the increase in price of the package. This, I will not put the blame to Trixxon as the bus fare has increased as much as RM50 for two-ways a day.

As much as we wished that the students would follow the bus over to Bukit Jalil to show our support, it was also their parents and own decision whether to follow the bus.

The packages were made known to all, even on stage during assembly, and also to the parents during Hari Temu Mesra. So I'm sure it wasn't the fault of the teachers for not promoting this project by Trixxon.

In addition, i'm sure the parents of those students who went there by LRT or other public transports knew about it. Otherwise, would they be able to go?

I'm making these statements not to go agaisnt any parties but to remind all not to simply make comments and also get your facts right before you do comment. Don't just blame anyone out of frustration and anger.

Thank you.

There should not be any misunderstandings. We all know who did their parts and who didnt. The pengetua is still there yet nothing much is done.I maybe an ex student from year 2007 but I just want to thank the cheerleaders and supporters for doing their parts. At the end of the day,as long as you all learn something new you guys are still winners in the eyes of your friends and family.

Siapa makan cilli, dia rasa pedas.Thats all I can say.Why dont parents just send emails to the Big Shots? The address are given infront, correct?

Good to see you are still caring towards the school Justin.^_^

Dear Justin
Please see my comments below:-

Another reason for the students to not take the packages and follow the bus is due to the increase in price of the package. This, I will not put the blame to Trixxon as the bus fare has increased as much as RM50 for two-ways a day.

WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT SAFETY OR RM50. RM50 IS A SMALL FEE TO PAY COMPARED TO A PERSON'S LIFE. TRIXXON DID A GREAT JOB - AT LEAST THEY TRIED. WHAT DID THE PENGETUA DO TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF HER STUDENTS ie US.

As much as we wished that the students would follow the bus over to Bukit Jalil to show our support, it was also their parents and own decision whether to follow the bus.

THE PENGETUA CAN ENFORCED IT AND SAY ALL STUDENTS MUST GO BY BUS. LOOK AT HARI BAKAT - WHY IS THERE A BUS TO FERRY THE STUDENTS FOR THE REHEARSAL. SHOULDNT THE PARENST JUST LET US GO ON OUR OWN. DONT GIVE ME THE ANSWER THAT COS THE ELECTRIC GUITAR WAS HEAVY.

The packages were made known to all, even on stage during assembly, and also to the parents during Hari Temu Mesra. So I'm sure it wasn't the fault of the teachers for not promoting this project by Trixxon.

WE KNOW THAT THE TEACHERS DID NOT PROMOTE IT DUE TO THE DEVIL PENGETUA. SINCE WE SAW YOU THERE ON THE 2 DAYS, CAN YOU NAME THE TEACHERS WHO ATTENDED THIS YEAR AND THOSE THAT ATTENDED LAST YEAR.

In addition, i'm sure the parents of those students who went there by LRT or other public transports knew about it. Otherwise, would they be able to go?

I HOPE YOU DONT GO INTO POLITICS AS WHAT YOU ARE SAYING IS JUST LIKE LAST NIGHT LIVE DEBATE ON TV. THE ISSUE HERE IS WHY DIDNT THE PENGETUA TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE STUDENTS. THE ISSUE IS NOT ABOUT THE PARENTS ALLOWING THE CHILDREN TO GO BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT, ITS ABOUT TAKING THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS AS A PENGETUA.

I am a parent who attended the 2nd Majlis Suaikenal. We were threatened by a PIBG representative - a lady by the name of ROSE AIDURA. She insisted that we stick to the 3 agenda and will not entertain other questions. If we persist, she threatens to call the Police. I am also disappointed that Miss Karamjit tried to stop a parent from distributing a leaflet which only put forward some questions raised by the parents. Both Miss Karamjit and Rose Aidura threaten to call the police over the incident. As usual the Pengetua was only there to close the meeting.

I also attended the 2nd suaikenal yesterday. Let me shed some light on what happened prior to the uncalled for outburst from pn.karamjit (teacher). there was a group of mothers outside the main gate and yes, a few of us were handing out pamphlets to create awareness amongst concerned parents regarding the mounting issues facing our school! pn. karamjit drove in at that moment and saw us doing so. as our group was walking towards the meeting room, we all heard karamjit shouting on top of her voice, walking beside pn. sow, marching towards the meeting room. she shouted, saying, 'call off the meeting as these parents are trying to remove the pengetua!" then, rose aidura came out and heard this. one of the upset mothers asked rose whether she was going to start on time as it was past 10 am. Rose appeared visibly flustered and the same applied to all of us! She thundered on with her loud voice to attempt to control us. in order not to prolong the outburst further, we decided to enter and proceed with the meeting. both rose and the upset parent apologised to each other.

however, when rose, the chairperson representing pibg, apparently head of discipline, welfare and safety, kept on reiterating to all of us that we must keep our questions to the day's agenda. should anyone bring up items unrelated, she wanted the person/s to clear out of the room if not, should the situation arise, she will not hesitate to call upon the police to remove them! excuse me, is this really necessary! is she so petrified that we are going to turn into an angry mob and maul her or what?!!! she has set an unhealthy tone and many parents were upset and angry with her high-handedness. of course, at this juncture, pengetua 'didn't' make any appearance and since most of us know of her preference for disappearing acts, we weren't surprised at all.

more than 30 parents,3 pibg ajk together with about 10 teachers attended. we were divided into 3 groups for easier discussion. here, i wish to commend en. fairuz (one of the pibg ajk) for taking down our concerns. he conducted himself professionally.

at the end of the day, what we parents want are proper teaching from the teachers (not being absent for one reason or another, kursus, meeting at the kementerian, sports activities, etc.), transparency in the handling of pibg funds, accountability to parents in areas of rising indiscipline, continuous absence of pengetua, lost of focus for the whole school and many other issues!

hello! is the pengetua the ceo of a school or who is?! if she is a caring and competent pengetua? if yes, how can she run a school by staying out of meetings that is supposedly to be suaikenal?!!! she only appeared to close the session. one does not need to be a rocket scientist to know that nothing is better than first hand knowledge of what problems the school is facing. hiding behind teachers doesn't augur well if she is trying to show her 'competence'!

I did not attend the meeting yesterday. HOWEVER,

If this is what that happened yesterday, I'm very disappointed in both Pn Karamjit and ROSE AIDURA.

Mrs Rose Aidura has no right to say that to the parents. Isn't she a parent herself?

I request to the administrator of this blog to do some coverage about this. Parents and the students need to know about the behaviour of these people.

The uncivilised and disrespectful people in this matter are the few teachers and PN ROSE AIDURA. Who does she think she think she is to threaten the parents? If what I'm told was correct, the parents merely handed out pamphlets and did nothing uncivilised or attempted to hunt the pengetua down or anything.

PIBG ajk's are voted by the parents. So I don't think we will have any problem removing her as a PIBG ajk. I hope none of the parents will vote for her to be a PIBG ajk next year. I have lost all respect for her.

I wonder who her son/daughter is. He/she should be ashamed to have a mother like that.

If teachers do what they do best ie to teach and hopefully educate then our school standards will be a lot higher than what it is today!
Pn Karamjit is a 'two face' snitch who has worked for the former pengetua and now continuing her services with this present pengetua. Students and ex-students do beware of her hypocritical approach shrouding her 'caring' disposition!
I must congratulate Pn Rose for her professional handling of saturday's suai kenal. But sadly many of us are left with a bad impression of how insecure and suspicious nature Pn Rose took upon herself to spoil the entire meeting by constant reminders for us to not deviate from 'her' agenda. I hope you Pn Rose learn your lesson, as we parents are not a bunch of ill-mannered uncivilized people who do not know how to respect a meeting if conducted properly. I can understand your defensive approach but to threaten us with police and security - this is terlebih!!
What meeting are you conducting that warrants police intervention?
Do you expect parents coming from some samseng kampung? Well i personally have witnessed parents that came for the previous Pibg AGM shouting at the YDP Tony Sio and demanded that he spoke in Bahasa and with body language that would definitely warrant a police intervention!
I appreciate what you have been doing and i sincerely hope success comes out from your hardwork. However without the presence of the Pengetua at most of the school functions and especially this meeting - how is it possible for parents to have faith in her administration?? Hiding behind her secured office and getting an OK signal for her to come out of her cocoon to just say a few words is a sign of fear, weakness and cowardly. What respect can she get from her peers, parents and more importantly the students?

As a parent I am totally devastated by Miss Karamjit behaviors last Saturday. Before this I have the highest respect for her as being a good teacher and a woman of wisdom. Unfortunately my opinion of her has now changed by 360 degrees.

First and foremost, none of the parents were giving a petition to remove the Pengetua. Instead it was a circular with questions to the Pengetua so that in the limited amount of time given, we remind focus on the issue. Miss Karamjit instead made this into an issue and wanted to call the meeting off. For those who were not presence that Saturday, all the parents were well behaved as we are a civilized citizen and not a trigger happy terrorist that stir trouble. Why do you need to defend the Pengetua when she didn’t even show up during the meeting? She only show her face minutes before it ended which I am sure that someone has SMS her that the meeting is about to finish. The gathering was planned months ago and I simply cannot accept the fact that the Pengetua didn’t turn up until the last second. Reason is that she is afraid to face the parents. So Miss Karamjit, is this the type of leader you want to follow.

My second opinion is about this Rose Aidura who has threatened the parents by saying she wants to call the police. I was so tempted to make the call to the police. In the 1st place, there was no misconduct among the parents so why do you need to threaten. You could have just simply be courteous and say to the parents that you will take the questions up with the PIBG and Pengetua. Instead you choose to ignore the questions posted and say that it’s not in the day’s agenda and if parents persisted you will call the police. Never have I witnessed so low class of behaviors until last Saturday when I see the actions of Puan Karamjit and Miss Rose Aidura (I don’t see the Rose in you but rather the Poison Ivy that you have projected). And one wonders why the standard of the school is going down. .

Today's assembly incident where a senior school assistant who is also the pengetua's personal escort demonstrated her prowess in front of the whole school. Was it an act of a disciplinary move or could it be the act of a frustrated mindless uncivilized sod. Throwing students' books into a thrash bin is totally unacceptable and unbefitting of a senior teacher. Teachers who are of unsound mind and particularly those who have anger problems should immediately seek help before they become a burden to society!
No matter how badly behaved those students were at the assembly that teacher should not resort to such a despicable act - those books are of educational value the very ones that she uses to teach and yet she can commit this abominable act.
We have to take a serious look at the kind of teachers we have at this school and take appropriate action to correct them before things get worsen.

I attended the Majlis Suaikenal Ibu Bapa dan AJK PIBG SMK (4) meeting on the 2nd August 2008. I was very sad with the behaviour of the Pengetua. As a visitor to the school I expected the Pengetua to welcome all the parents attending the meeting. But she did not. So I thought she would do so when the meeting formally begins. Breakfast was provided but that was not what we came for and anyway as one who would put on weight even by the smell of food I did not avail myself it. Thank you very much. When the meeting began I expected the Pengetua to formally welcome us to her school. She is the hostess. We were there as parents to share with the Pengetua problems within the school but she did not say a word and then we broke off into 2 groups for the sake of time and then meet together again to summarise our findings.3 PIBG members took charge of the entire procedure and I think Puan Rose did a good job. When we came back to continue as 1 group, the Pengetua was no longer present. I wonder what is more important than finding out what is the problems affecting the school? A reasonable and responsible Pengetua would want to know what is wrong with the school but not in this case. It just shows that the Pengetua is not interested in going to the root of the problem. In my opinion the Pengetua is the root of the problem of the school. All the other problems arises because of her attitude and non commitment to the school. I cannot blame the teachers for they are under her orders and have to abide by her. Their promotion and work condition is dependent on her.The way I see it the school will just deteriorate further unless she change her attitude or the Kementerian replace the Pengetua. I hope for the sake of our children and the future of our country the Kementerian take action now.

I was at the Hari Bakat and was also disappointed that the Pengetua did not attend to give encouragement to the students. They have worked so hard to put on a good show. A school Pengetua is like the parent of the school and children to take pride in their Pegetua participating in their school life. Pengetua please show an interest in the lives of the students and they will have fond memories of their school and you as their Head. You are the leader so please lead with fairness and integrity and show your interest and commitment for the school. You can make a difference to the lives of the students.
